Melissa Marchand (she/her) is a Registered Midwife and has served families in the Hamilton area since 2013. She joined the team at Mountain Midwifery Care in 2019. Melissa is a Sessional Instructor at McMaster University and is a member of the Midwifery Quality of Care Committee at St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She has also volunteered with the Shelter Health Network, an organization providing maternity care within the Hamilton shelter system.
Prior to midwifery, Melissa was a Women’s Studies student at the University of Waterloo. Her passion for pregnancy and birth motivated her to become a certified Doula and Childbirth Educator. Melissa also had the special experience of visiting The Farm Midwifery Centre in Tennessee for training with Ina May Gaskin.
Melissa works hard to provided personalized, inclusive maternity care with diligence and a sense of humour. She aims to develop strong trusting relationships and provide evidence-based care.
Outside of work, you will find Melissa hiking with her family, singing karaoke to 90’s rock music and enjoying retail therapy at Dollarama.
